The Kamahi Loop Track is one of the best ways to experience the magical “Goblin Forest” in Taranaki.

Starting just above the Stratford Mountain House, about 15 km up Pembroke Road, this short loop takes you through lush rainforest. You’ll walk among moss-draped kamahi trees, their twisted trunks surrounded by ferns and thick greenery. The walk itself only takes around 15–30 minutes, making it an easy but rewarding escape into nature.

📸: Don’t be fooled by its length—this track is stunning for photos, with its eerie trees and mossy atmosphere. Because it’s quite dark under the forest canopy, bring a tripod and visit during the day to make the most of the available light.
