This is where you can see the famous sea stacks known as the Three Sisters and the once-towering Elephant Rock.
The catch is that access to the beach is only possible at mid to low tide, so it’s essential to check tide times before planning your visit. If you arrive during high tide, don’t worry—you can still get a fantastic view from above. Head to the end of Pilot Road, where a lookout provides sweeping views of the Three Sisters, the coastline, and, on a clear day, Mount Taranaki in the distance.
📸: For the best results, bring a wide-angle lens to capture both the sea stacks and the dramatic coastline. A drone is also excellent for getting unique perspectives over the estuary and ocean. Sunset is the golden time to shoot here, with warm light illuminating the rocks and, if you’re lucky, painting the mountain on the horizon.
