Whangamomona Saddle is one of the most scenic spots along the Forgotten World Highway (SH43) and a must-stop if you’re road-tripping between Stratford and Taumarunui.
At the top of the saddle, you’ll find a viewpoint overlooking rugged hills and remote farmland that feels straight out of a movie. It’s a quick stop – you can park right by the roadside – but the views make it worth pulling over for a few minutes.
🚗 It’s located right on SH43, so no walking is required – just keep an eye out for the pull-off area near the highest point of the road.
📸 Photography tip: This is a perfect place to launch your drone (if conditions are safe and you follow CAA rules). The aerial view really shows off the rolling hills and winding road. On clear days you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Taranaki in the distance.
