Paritutu Rock is one of New Plymouth’s most iconic landmarks, rising steeply from the coast right beside Port Taranaki. The track to the top is short but intense—expect a steep climb with chain-assisted sections that feel more like scrambling than walking. It only takes around 20–30 minutes to reach the summit, but the effort is rewarded with panoramic views over the Tasman Sea, the Sugar Loaf Islands, and on a clear day, Mount Taranaki towering inland.
