This one is a little bit of a hidden gem.

We love exploring the tiny alleys in every city we visit, and Katamachi in Kanazawa didn’t disappoint!

This area has a fun little alleyway packed with tiny bars, each seating just 5 to 8 people. It's a little bit tricky to find.

But if you keep asking around, someone will eventually point you in the right direction.

We struggled to find a bar that would allow foreigners in.

Just keep popping your head into the next one and asking, you never know, you may eventually get lucky.

Regardless it's a really cute spot to wander through, especially at night. You can see all the swinging lanterns in darkly lit doorways.

Katamachi is definitely where it's at for authentic Japanese nightlife!
