Shirakawago is hands down one of the best day trips you’ll take in Japan!

We caught the bus from Kanazawa Station, and it took just over an hour (around ¥1,940).

The tiny Gassho houses are absolutely gorgeous, and I highly recommend taking a walk to the lookout.

It’s a beautiful walk with an amazing view from the top. If you’re visiting in winter, check out their snow cam to see if the houses are covered in snow before you go. Give yourself 2-3 hours to wander, and make sure to stop by some of the cute cafes.

If you’re there in winter, try to time it for the Shirakawago Winter Light-Up, and if you can, stay in a Gassho house for the full experience.

It’s an unforgettable experience, with prices ranging from ¥8,000 to ¥20,000 per person, including dinner and breakfast!

We'll pop the link below because it books out fast!
