Tucked in Crans Ambassador Hotel, Le Carnotzet is a traditional Valaisan wine cellar-style restaurant celebrating cheese and local delicacies. In a warm wood-paneled “carnotzet” atmosphere, you can savour authentic raclette (melted raw-milk cheese scraped from the wheel) and bubbling cheese fondues – from the classic moitié-moitié to truffled variations. Cured meats from regional artisans accompany the cheeses, and the setting feels like a rustic alpine hut despite being inside a modern hotel. Prices are moderate: a cheese fondue is ~CHF 30 per person, and raclette (à discrétion) about CHF 40.
Getting There: Located on the -1 level of Crans Ambassador (Route du Petit Signal 3). If not a hotel guest, enter via the main lobby; staff will direct you downstairs.
Seasonality: Open daily for dinner (19:00–22:00) during winter; in summer it may open on weekends or for special Swiss theme nights.
Practical Tips: Casual dress is fine (you might smell of cheese after!). It’s popular on cold evenings – reserve ahead for prime times. Children love the novelty of toasting bread in the fondue, and the restaurant provides kid-friendly portions.
