Directions

Hotel Alexandria is a landmark building in downtown Los Angeles, opening in 1906 as one of the city’s first luxury hotels and a social hub for early Hollywood stars, dignitaries and entertainers. Its grand Palm Court ballroom and ornate public spaces made it a centerpiece of Los Angeles’ silent‑film era and a place where major industry deals were struck. Over the decades it declined, went through numerous ownership and design changes, and was ultimately converted to apartments and event space while retaining its historic character.

The hotel also has a long reputation for paranormal lore. Stories include sightings of a “Lady in Black,” unexplained elevator activity, eerie sensations in sealed off sections of the building known as the ghost wing, and reports of spirits tied to its many decades of history, though none are officially documented. Its mix of elegance, decay, and storied past makes it a frequent subject for ghost tours and paranormal interest.
