The Biltmore Los Angeles
Hotel
Directions

Elegant, historic, and tied to one of LA’s most haunting mysteries.

Elizabeth Short was reportedly last seen here before her murder in 1947. The hotel still operates today, but the story lingers in its hallways.

It feels beautiful… but heavy.

───────

Opened in 1923, the Millennium Biltmore Hotel is one of the most historic hotels in downtown Los Angeles. Designed in a lavish Beaux-Arts style, the hotel quickly became a center of Hollywood glamour during the Golden Age of film. Early Academy Awards ceremonies were held here, and the hotel hosted countless film stars, political figures, and cultural events. Over the decades, its ornate ballrooms, grand staircases, and dramatic architecture have made it one of the most recognizable filming locations in Los Angeles.

The hotel also carries a reputation for paranormal activity. Guests and staff have reported sightings of unexplained figures, mysterious footsteps in empty corridors, and strange occurrences in the historic ballrooms. One of the most persistent legends involves the unresolved Black Dahlia case, as Elizabeth Short was reportedly last seen at the Biltmore shortly before her infamous 1947 murder. Today, the hotel remains open and continues to operate as both a luxury hotel and a popular filming location.
