The Cobb Estate, known as the Haunted Forest, is located in Altadena, California. Built in 1916 by lumber magnate Charles H. Cobb as a summer retreat, the estate grew into a grand Spanish-style home surrounded by dense forest. After Cobb’s death in 1939, it passed through several owners, including a Masonic retirement home and a brief Hollywood investment by the Marx Brothers, before falling into decay. The mansion was demolished in the late 1950s, leaving only crumbling foundations and overgrown paths.
Visitors have reported unexplained screams, footsteps, cold spots, blue lights among the trees, and ghostly figures near the old stairway. These hauntings have made the forest a legend in Southern California paranormal lore.
