STATISTICS AT-A-GLANCE

  • HIKE NAME: Bighorn Canyon

  • ELEVATION GAIN: 200 feet

  • RESTROOMS: No

  • PERMIT: No

  • FEE: No

  • VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS: 2wd // Do not attempt if recent rain. Otherwise no obstacles, just terrible washboard down Hole in the Rock Road

  • MAP PROVIDED IN WEBSITE: Yes, Gaia GPX

This trail contains two separate slot canyons at the end, both a west (left) and main (right) fork. The left is shorter and most impressive narrows, however the right has beautiful colors in the canyon walls. Not one of the most popular slots in Escalante, which is nice bc you usually won't see anyone along the way.

This is the first slot you come to on Hole-in-the-Rock road at only 4.5 miles so if you're not feeling the washboard drive to Zebra or Peekaboo/Spooky, this one only takes about 10 minutes from the highway.
