This 2-mile loop near Chance Cove is a solid option if you're up for some classic Newfoundland coastal views without committing to a full-day hike. The trail is mostly moderate, though there’s a steep section right from the parking lot that’ll wake up your legs. It’s well-marked with benches and signs, and you’ll get some seriously beautiful views from the cliffs above the cove.

There are a couple of beaches you can dip down to—great on a hot day—but full transparency: if you’re planning to tackle the rope section down to Big Cove, know that it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s steep, a bit sketchy, and definitely not something I’d recommend in sneakers. That said, the trail is generally well-maintained and pretty popular, so you won’t feel totally isolated. Dogs are welcome too, as long as they’re leashed.
