Remote coastal village in Newfoundland

Francois (pronounced fran-SWAY) is one of those remote Newfoundland spots that feels like it's barely on the map—in the best way. With just over 60 residents and no road access, you can only get here by boat or helicopter. There’s a small store, a post office, and even a little museum, but really, the charm is in how untouched and tucked away it feels. The locals have pushed back on government resettlement more than once, and it’s clear why—they’ve carved out a quiet, coastal life here and aren’t in a rush to give it up.
