Harbour

If you find yourself in Harbour Grace, make sure to stop by Riverhead to catch a glimpse of the SS Kyle. This abandoned shipwreck is seriously impressive—and you can still see it standing tall in the water all these years later.

Launched in 1913, the Kyle was once the fastest ship in the Reid Newfoundland Company’s Alphabet Fleet and played a big role in connecting Newfoundland with coastal Labrador. It even doubled as a sealing vessel back in the day. After running aground in 1967, it’s stayed right here ever since—now more of a monument to the province’s seafaring past.

Pro tip: bring binoculars for a better look! It’s one of those cool, off-the-beaten-path spots that feels like stepping into a piece of history.
