Geysir is a geothermal area located in the Haukadalur valley in southwestern Iceland. It is home to the famous Great Geysir, which is the first geyser known to Europeans and the one which all others are named after. The area also features numerous other hot springs, mud pots, and fumaroles. Geysir is a popular tourist destination, with visitors coming to witness the powerful eruptions of the Great Geysir and the other geothermal features.
