Mount Kurohime is a 2,053-meter stratovolcano located in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. It's known as one of the 200 most famous mountains in Japan and offers several day-hike trails to the summit. Popular among hikers, it also hosts the Kurohime Kogen Ski Resort on its eastern slopes.

I've added this as a hiking area with an abundance of options for trail lengths and levels for everyone. If you want to hike to the top of the mountain there are a few ways to approach the summit. I'll add the one that I recommend at the URL link to help with the details. This page can be translated to English and the map is on the Yamap website.

Hike

Length: 13km / 8 miles

Time: About 7 hours

Elevation gain: 1,012m ascent and 1,012m descent

Description

This trail has a nice variety of wetlands, alpine, waterfalls, ponds, and the ridge line. There are panoramic views from the top of the hike while the rest of the hike is shaded in the trees - great for summer.

Bears are often spotted in this area so please be bear aware and take precautions. I have more details about bears in my articles.

Check the map on Yamap and the hike times between the points. You might like to make your own custom trail that best suits your available time.

This area also offers snow show options for winter both on the flats and at altitude. Carefully study the weather patterns prior to any winter activities as this spot does receive a lot of snow.
