I visited here a few years back with my dad (who loves cars) and we really enjoyed it. There's a good mix of old and new design and the exhibition is well laid out. One of the highlights for any Nagoya visit in my opinion.
Overview
This museum traces Toyota’s origins from a textile machinery manufacturer to one of the world’s largest car companies. Housed in an old red-brick factory, it focuses on industrial progress, hands-on learning, and the connection between craftsmanship and innovation.
Highlights
• Working demonstrations of early looms and machine tools
• Full-scale automotive production line displays
• Cutaway models and assembly robots showing how Toyota vehicles are built
• Model AA replica—Toyota’s first passenger car
• Technoland area with interactive science exhibits for kids
Why Visit
This isn’t just for car enthusiasts. It’s a well-structured museum that shows how Japan’s industrial base evolved. The loom room alone explains a lot about Toyota’s attention to detail and manufacturing roots. The automotive side is hands-on, with machines running, engines exposed, and explanations that stay technical without dumbing it down. It’s especially useful for travelers curious about engineering, design, or how global companies grow from simple tools to high-tech systems.
