I used to drive this way through the moutains as I made my way from Nagano City over to Hakuba and Azumino for hikes. This is an incredible place that gives an entire view of the Northern Alps mountain range. It is besides a quaint temple which makes a beautiful subject.

It is easy to reach by car in 20 minutes or on foot in about 2 hours from Shinano Omachi Station. The breathtaking scenery of snow-capped mountains and the possibility of seeing a sea of clouds make it a must-visit spot, especially during the autumn to winter transition.
