Located near the Kyoto Imperial Palace, Toraya Karyo Kyoto Ichijo is a charming tea room attached to the renowned Wagashi confectioner, Toraya. The shop's stylish interior resembles an art gallery, offering a serene setting to enjoy traditional Japanese sweets like Yokan and Namagashi. Don't miss out on their exclusive summer menu items like Mizu Yokan gelled with Kudzu Flour or the refreshing Iced Matcha. It's the perfect spot to indulge in some delicious Wagashi and soak up the peaceful ambiance of Kyoto.

While I lived in Kyoto, I studied and learned how to make Japanese wagashi (sweets) like this and I would choose to visit this one to pick up their seasonal items. The garden and atmosphere is sophisticated and elegant.

The last time I visited was right before the covid borders reopened which is why you'll see my photo in the mask! Remember those days?!
