The London Eye is the must-see attraction on the South Bank of the River Thames in London, England. Standing at an imposing 135 metres tall and with a diameter of 120 metres, it is one of the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheels and among the most popular paid tourist attractions in the United Kingdom. With its stunning views of landmarks from across London, including the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard, it is no wonder that millions of people visit every year to witness it first hand. Not only is it a great place to get a panoramic view of London, it is also a site of architectural beauty; its hub and spokes designed by husband-and-wife team, Julia Barfield and David Marks of Marks Barfield Architects. Combining an awe-inspiring vista with timeless architecture, the London Eye is the perfect spot for tourists or locals alike to catch their breath and take in some of the city’s most iconic scenery.
