Shakespeare and Company is a beloved independent bookstore in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, with a history going back to 1951. It’s known for its rich reading culture, with a collection of new titles and rare books, plus staff picks and bestsellers. Every year, the store hosts events such as talks by authors and comedians, free podcasts, reading challenges, and even a literary festival. But the cherry on top is the opportunity to stay for free overnight in the store -- over 30,000 aspiring authors have done so throughout its history. Shopping here is always an adventure where guests can find tales from Shakespeare, poetry from Joyce Mansour, philosophy from Greta Thunberg and plenty more!
