Hvað þú munt gera

Rome is too layered, beautiful and intense to be experienced like a checklist. This two day itinerary is designed for first time visitors who want to see the essential icons, but also understand the rhythm of the city without feeling constantly rushed.

Day 1 focuses on Ancient Rome and the historic center: the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Campidoglio, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona.

Day 2 moves toward Vatican Rome, the river, Castel Sant’Angelo, elegant walks, Trastevere and one of the most atmospheric endings in the city.

This route is designed to help you experience Rome with clarity, beauty and confidence: what to see, how to move, where to slow down, when to walk, and when to choose an easier option.

Best for

First time visitors, couples, solo travelers, culture lovers, food lovers, short stays, travelers who want the essential Rome experience without chaos.

Estimated duration

Two full days.

Movement strategy

This itinerary is mostly designed around walking, because Rome’s historic center is best experienced on foot. However, Rome can be tiring, especially in summer or for travelers with mobility limitations. Use metro to reach the starting areas, walk between close central stops, and use taxi or bus when distances become too long.

Buses can be useful in Rome, but routes and timing can change, so always check Google Maps or a local transport app before choosing a bus. For short distances in the historic center, walking is often simpler. For longer transfers, heat, tiredness or mobility issues, taxis are usually the easiest option.
