Westman Islands are a hidden gem in Iceland and they were one of our favourite spots. We went in the summer when baby pufflings were hatching and it was so fun to watch the tradition there. We wrote a big section on this in the puffins travel tip section. What happens is that the baby pufflings fly to the sea at night following the moon light, but they get distracted by city lights and they fall all over the Westman Islands. Locals find the babies, put them in a box, and throw them to the sea the next morning. It was very cool to watch and we got to throw one to sea, so cool!
Besides this, the Westmans have a lot of cool little hikes, viewpoints and one of the biggest puffin colonies in the world. Such a special island.
