Trois Roches is one of the most photographed spots in Mafate and for good reason. The wide, flat basalt slabs stretch out like a stone riverbed, suddenly interrupted by a dramatic waterfall that slices into a deep canyon below. It’s not loud or chaotic, just raw, still, and powerful. The kind of place you reach after hours of walking and sit in silence to take it in.

Most people reach it from Roche Plate or Marla, making it part of a longer loop through the cirque. The hike itself is exposed, hot, and demanding, with almost no shade, but the reward is an oasis of stone and sky. There's no safety barrier near the falls, so caution is essential near the edge.

👉 Bring more water than you think you need. The exposed section between Roche Plate and Trois Roches is bone-dry and has no refill points.
