A hike on my list that I have heard amazing things about! PR 8 - Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço is a 3 km trail on the eastern tip of Madeira Island, offering panoramic views of both the north and south sides. This moderate difficulty hike takes about 2.5 hours and leads you through a peninsula of volcanic origin with unique basalt and limestone formations. You might spot rare plants, seabirds, and if you're lucky, even monk seals. Don't forget to take a dip at Cais do Sardinha after your walk! Entry is €1 for adults, but free for residents and kids under 12.
