If you're in Koh Samui, Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai) is a must-visit. It’s one of the island’s most famous landmarks, with a massive 12-metre golden Buddha that you can spot from miles away. The temple sits on a small island just off the northeast coast, connected by a short causeway, so it’s super easy to get to.

Quick Guide to Big Buddha Temple

📍 Location: Northeast Koh Samui, near the airport and Bophut Beach
💰 Entry Fee: Free, but donations are appreciated
Opening Hours: 24/7, but best to go in the morning or late afternoon (less heat, fewer crowds)
👀 What to Expect:

  • A huge golden Buddha sitting at the top of a staircase, with incredible views

  • Beautiful temple grounds with smaller shrines and statues

  • A few market stalls selling souvenirs, snacks, and drinks

  • A peaceful vibe, great for a quick cultural stop

Tips:

🛕 Dress modestly (cover shoulders & knees) if you plan to walk up to the Buddha.
🌅 Sunset or sunrise visits are extra magical, with amazing views over the water.
🛍️ There's a small local market near the entrance where you can grab some snacks or souvenirs.

It’s a quick stop—maybe 30–45 minutes—but totally worth it, especially if you combine it with a visit to Wat Plai Laem, another stunning temple just 5 minutes away. 🚗✨
