To get to Rainbow Falls, follow the Indian Head Trail back down to Lake Road. When you reach the road, turn left and head toward Ausable Lake until you see a sign pointing to Rainbow Falls. Follow the gravel road down hill and cross the long bridge that crosses the stream running from Lower Ausable Lake.

At the end of the wooden bridge, you will reach the junction for Rainbow Falls. Follow the trail to Rainbow Falls Adirondacks through the woods for a short distance before entering a misty canyon covered in moss.

As you approach Rainbow Falls New York, the trail gets super rocky and ultra slippery from the moisture created by the waterfall. Watch your footing as you climb toward the base of the waterfall.

Hiking both Indian Head Hike and Rainbow Falls will take the average hiker approximately 6-7 hours, including breaks.
