Even if you're not a huge history person, this is well worth a stop.

Fort Ticonderoga is older than the United States! It overlooks Lake Champlain and played a strategic role in the French & Indian War and the American Revolution during the 18th century. Today, you can walk through the restored fort and learn about early American history though interactive exhibits and historical demonstrations (including musket and cannon firings)

Make a day of it: After exploring Fort Ticonderoga, make the short drive up Mount Defiance for a birds eye view of the fort and surrounding area. Then wander around downtown Ticonderoga, where you'll find colorful murals, local shops, and LaChute Falls right in the heart of town.
