Nestled in a quiet valley, Meigetsu-in, affectionately known as the 'Hydrangea Temple,' offers a truly serene escape. You'll be captivated by the sea of blue hydrangeas that line the stone staircases in early summer, creating a picture-perfect scene. The temple's famous circular 'window of enlightenment' perfectly frames the beautiful inner garden, a view that changes with the seasons and is worth a quiet moment of contemplation. There is an admission fee of ¥500.
The hydrangeas at Meigetsuin are famously called 'Meigetsu-in Blue' and are considered exceptionally beautiful among the many varieties of hydrangeas.
The hydrangeas here are usually at their best around June each year.
Open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM in June)
