I still remember when we discovered this bar in 2017 – it was such a small, hidden speakeasy with only 5 cocktails on the menu that were meant to cure issues of the head, heart, soul, etc. Now, the Gin Bar is kind of an institution in Cape Town and has not only expanded their menu (with 100 gins – 80 of them from South Africa) but also their venue. The "Bubbly Bar" opened right next to it in the same place, serving bubbly from small craft wine makers in the area. The speakeasy vibe is still kind of there because you need to enter through the Honest Chocolate Shop and the interior is still quirky and kind of old-school but by now, it's definitely not a secret anymore!
