This wine farm is definitely one of the biggest and most commercial ones in the Cape Winelands, I would say. It is located right at the entrance of Stellenbosch so it's a shorter drive from Cape Town than to others in the area and since they are so big, you can just walk-in for a tasting without a prior reservation without problems, even on the weekend. In my opinion it is still super nice to visit though – especially since they have a big park where you can take a stroll, or buy a picknick basket and a bottle of wine and find a quiet corner to just enjoy. At Spier they also offer all kinds of interesting tasting experiences, such as Chocolate & Wine Pairing, a Wine Blending Workshop, a Grape Juice Tasting for children and much more.
