Iceland Restaurant Guide: 10 best places to eat in downtown Reykjavík for dinner if you're visiting Iceland for the first time
Kyana Sue Powers
Iceland
In my opinion, the food and restaurants in Iceland are underrated! Who knew Icelandic food could taste so good. There are so many award winning chefs and cocktail artists in Reykjavik, I never get bored of the food scene around here.
When in doubt, always order the fish or the day or the lamb dish. You can NEVER go wrong with any of those dishes in Iceland. Icelanders really know what they're doing in the kitchen.
Here are my top 10 Restaurants to eat at in Reykjavik: (make sure to click each one to see what I recommend on the menu)
1. Sushi Social
2. Sjavargrill
3. Old Iceland
4. Apotek
5. Tres Locos
6. Fjallkonan
7. Fish Company
8. Dill Restaurant
9. Íslenski barinn
10. Fish Market
Please note these are not considered affordable options and it is best to book a table in advance.
Bonus:
If you are up for trying several traditional and authentic Icelandic dishes I recommend signing up for the Reykjavik Food Tour . This is truly one of the best experiences you can have in Reykjavik. All the food is DELICIOUS and you will definitely not leave hungry. You'll be in a small group with a local guide who will fill you with stories about Iceland and amazing cuisine as you visit 5-6 different restaurants together. I can't recommend this food tour enough!
