Great place for lunch (pack a picnic) and a short hike through the lava field and just around the area. I also recommend to take a dip in the hot spring. The changing facilities are pretty primitive and might be closed.

You have to reserve your parking spot in advance when arriving at Landmannalaugar between June 20th and September 15th, 2024, between 8AM and 3PM. Otherwise you may be denied parking.

You can camp here or stay in the lodge (book ahead of time). There are also amazing day and multiday hikes from here. A great day hike is the (Brennisteinsalda Bláhnúkur loop) Blue Mountain hike (3-5 hours).

If you're staying a few days, the Grænihryggur (6-8 hours) is EPIC and done mostly only by locals.
