The Blackhead Path is a stunning piece of the East Coast Trail that offers views of the rugged coastline. You'll start in the charming village of Blackhead and wind your way south through forests that soon open up to dramatic sea cliffs and open barrens, with Cabot Tower and the Southside Hills visible in the distance, or north with nice cliffs and boulders (that attract rock climbers like me). The trail to Cape Spear (the most easterly point in North America) is a manageable 3.7 km one-way trek, and is considered a moderate hike with some rough, steep sections, so be sure to wear sturdy footwear.
