Higashi Chaya District, located in the Higashiyama area of Kanazawa and adjacent to the Asano River is a well-preserved historical geisha district. It’s the largest among three historical geisha districts in Kanazawa, where traditional geisha can still be seen entertaining guests today. Visitors will be captivated by the narrow streets filled with wooden teahouses and shops selling gold leaf products. You can take part in a truly unique experience at the local gold leaf galleries, and explore the Kaikaro Tea House to get a sense of the refined architectural style and interiors without having to book an exclusive performance. Stroll down the river for views of the tea house or catch a glimpse of a geisha in their kimonos, all while absorbing the history and charm of this beautiful district.
