In Iceland, the Lindarbakki house is a turf house that seems to rise from the ground. This small house in the small fishing town on the island of Borgarfjörður Eystri is called Lindarbakki house and is made of bricks, wood and covered with grass.

Parts of this house date from 1899. The current owner, Elísabet Sveinsdóttir, bought it in 1979 and lives there from mid-May until the end of August. She added a shed in the same style to the original construction.

How to get there: From Egilsstaðir, take road 94 to Bakkagerði.
