Vermelha Beach is not a destination normally mentioned in most travel guides. I think that is because its presence is overshined by the Sugar Loaf, which is right next to it.

Vermelha Beach is technically part of the neighborhood called Urca and it is nicely nestled between two mountains. It is a small sandy beach, easily reachable by car.

It is a considerably emptier beach than Ipanema and Copacabana.

What I love about Vermelha Beach is that you have a very unique view of Sugar Loaf Mountain, since the beach is located almost underneath it.
