The Church of Saint Paul sits atop St. Paul’s Hill, overlooking Melaka’s historic centre. Built in 1521 by the Portuguese, it is one of the oldest church buildings in Southeast Asia. Today, only the stone walls remain, but you can still see old tombstones, statues, and openings that frame panoramic views of the city and coastline.

The walk up the hill is short but a bit steep, passing shaded paths and souvenir stalls along the way. It’s best to visit early in the day or near sunset when the light is soft and the crowds thin out. The site pairs well with nearby A Famosa and the Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum for a complete historic walk.
