Marquês de Sapucaí is where the main magic happens during the carnival in Rio. I am sure you have already seen pictures of the Carnival Parade we have every year with the competition between the samba schools. Well, it happens right here, in the Sambadrome.

If you visit Rio during Carnival season, I highly recommend attending the parade - it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

If you visit Rio outside of Carnival season and you want to check out the place where the magic happens, you can still visit the Sambadrome. There are guided tours available, but honestly... it is a bit disappointing when nothing is happening.
