The Church of St. Francis Xavier, built in 1845, stands gracefully along the Melaka River and is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Dedicated to the famous Catholic missionary who visited the region in the 1500s, the church was modeled after France’s Cathedral of St. Peter in Montpellier, featuring twin spires, pointed arches, and stained-glass windows.

It remains an active place of worship and welcomes visitors to step inside for quiet reflection or to admire the architecture. The riverside location makes it easy to spot while exploring the heritage zone. Visit in the morning for a peaceful atmosphere and soft light for photos.
