Barra da Tijuca is a more residential neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. This one has a special place for me because it is where I come from, so I really love this beach.

Barra Beach is quite long, with over 14 km in length. For this reason, I would consider it the best beach in Rio for just enjoying the day and sunbathing. Since it is quite long, it gets proportionally less crowded than Copacabana and Ipanema.

There are parts of it that are more crowded than the others, because people go to specific sections they like. So, if you walk around, it is quite easy to find empty places to spend the day.
