Muzium Istana Kesultanan Melaka, or the Malacca Sultanate Palace Museum, is a wooden replica of the 15th-century royal palace that once stood at the foot of St. Paul’s Hill. Built entirely without nails, it showcases the traditional architecture of the Melaka Sultanate era, complete with sweeping roofs and carved wooden panels. Inside, exhibits display royal costumes, weaponry, historical documents, and dioramas depicting court life.

It’s a great stop to learn about Melaka’s pre-colonial history and the influence of the Malay kings who once ruled the region. The shaded gardens surrounding the museum make for a pleasant walk afterward. Visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat.
