Ormana is a small mountain village famous for its traditional “buttoned houses” (Düğmeli Evler), a unique architectural style found in the Taurus Mountains.
These centuries-old houses are built using a special dry-stone technique where wooden beams are interlocked horizontally between stone layers without mortar creating the “buttoned” appearance. Walking through Ormana feels like stepping back in time, with narrow streets, stone mansions, wooden balconies, and a peaceful rural atmosphere.
There is no entrance fee to visit the village itself, as it is an open and living settlement. However, some restored houses operate as boutique hotels or guesthouses, allowing visitors to stay overnight in authentic historic mansions. Accommodation options are limited but charming, often including traditional breakfasts made with local village products.
Nearby attractions include Altınbeşik Cave National Park, scenic mountain viewpoints, and nature walking routes. Small local restaurants serve homemade regional dishes in restored stone buildings.
