This is one of the lakes that is mostly overlooked in Engadine but watch out, it is worth a short stop when you are in the valley and actually in any season.

Lake Champfèr is idyllically situated between Champfèr and Silvaplana. Ideal for a short walk around the lake. This takes approx. 1h 15min. Parking spaces are available at the Surlej bridge or in the multi-storey car park in Silvaplana. By the way, there is a mountain bike area on the lake shore towards the Corvatsch side. The lake is not supervised. The various sports activities are at your own risk!

It is worth to come to the spot close to the Champfér side where in the morning it is very quiet and perfect for reflections during summer and autumn. In winter this is as well the best spot to access the black ice.

For the blackice it is important to check with the local authorities if it is being released (of course still on your own risk). Black ice only happens after a longer period (10 days) of very cold temperatures. And the good thing is that Lake Champfér is one of the first one to get frozen :)
