If you want an easy, relaxing lake day in Lucerne, Strandbad Lido Luzern is the best place to swim, relax, and let kids run free. This large lakeside swimming complex sits right on Lake Lucerne with incredible views of Mount Pilatus and the surrounding mountains.

There’s something here for everyone: lake swimming areas with floating platforms, multiple pools, grassy lawns for picnicking, and plenty of space for kids to play. It’s a local favorite on warm summer days and a perfect way to slow down between bigger mountain adventures.

📍 Location

Right along the lakefront just outside the city center, about a 10 minute drive or bus ride from Lucerne Old Town. It’s next to the Swiss Museum of Transport, which makes it easy to combine both in one outing.

🏊 What You’ll Find

  • Large lake swimming area with floating docks

  • Olympic-sized pool

  • Family pools and shallow areas for kids

  • Expansive grass lawns for relaxing and picnicking

  • Café and snack bar

  • Changing rooms and showers

Kids can jump off docks, swim in the lake, or play in the pools while parents relax on the grass with incredible alpine views. It’s one of the easiest places in Lucerne to spend a slow afternoon enjoying the lake.

💰 Cost

Small entrance fee (typically around CHF 8–10 for adults, discounted for kids). Prices may vary slightly by season.

💡 Tips

  • Bring a towel and picnic snacks

  • Lockers are available

  • Water shoes can be helpful for lake entry

  • Combine with a visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport next door if you want a half-day outing
