Xiaoputuo, a tiny island on the east side of Erhai Lake, is like a scene from an ancient fairy tale.

About Xiaoputuo

The island is not much bigger than the temple that sits on top of it and, with the mountains in the background, is a nice spot to stop while travelling around the lake for a pause.

If you have a drone, this is a great place to get some shots of what is essentially a floating temple.

Getting there

There are seasonal buses that do loops around Erhai lake for tourists and will stop in the town along the coast if you ask the driver.

Alternatively you can always take a cab or even hire a driver for an Erhai lake tour.
