This place is a super popular freedom camping spot in Taupo, so don't expect peace and quiet. The night I stayed, there were at least 100 campers, which gives you an idea of how busy it can get. It’s in a prime location for exploring Taupo though, with the river just a 5-minute walk away for some nice views. The grounds aren’t the cleanest, mainly because of how many people camp here, but hey, it’s free, and honestly, it’s good enough for a night or two if you're just passing through. Not too much to write home about, but definitely a solid option for budget-friendly camping.
