A beach where you can dig a hole and it turns into a steaming hot pool… how cool is that!
I won’t lie, this spot is definitely a bit of a tourist trap, but it’s still such a fun and unique experience. There are a few things to keep in mind before you go.
Timing is everything, as the hot water can only be found at low tide and about two hours around it. If you arrive at high tide, you won’t be able to access the hot spots.
Parking isn’t free, so be prepared to pay at the nearby car parks.
If you don’t have a shovel, you can hire one at the beach or from hotels nearby.
Once you find a warm patch, dig a hole to let the hot water flow into a pool. Just be careful not to sit directly in the stream, as the water can be scalding hot. Also, it does smell like sulphur, so I’d definitely recommend rinsing off afterwards.
It’s a fun little adventure, but make sure to check the tide times and be prepared to share the space with a crowd.
