Le Puits Arabe is one of those places that barely shows up on maps but sticks in your mind long after. This old stone well, perched on the edge of the Saint-Philippe lava coast, was once a vital freshwater source for passing ships. Carved into solidified lava and framed by crashing waves, it feels like a scene from another time.

The walk is short and easy, just a few minutes from the roadside picnic area. You’ll pass weathered volcanic rock and reach the well itself, now more symbolic than functional, but still full of character. It’s not a destination, but it’s worth the stop if you're exploring the Sud Sauvage or heading to Cap Méchant.

👉 Bring a thermos of coffee and stop at one of the picnic tables near the well. Early morning here feels like the edge of the earth, with nothing but sea and spray in front of you.
