Chefchaouen, often called “the Blue Pearl of Morocco,” is a small mountain town located in the Rif Mountains in northern Morocco. It is famous for its striking blue-painted streets, doors, and buildings, creating one of the most visually unique and photogenic atmospheres in the country.

The town feels calm and very walkable compared to Morocco’s larger cities. Narrow alleyways wind through the medina, where every corner reveals shades of blue mixed with whitewashed walls, flower pots and traditional details.

Beyond the medina, the surrounding mountains offer hiking opportunities and viewpoints overlooking the blue city below. Local cafés, small shops and squares make it easy to spend a full day simply wandering and enjoying the atmosphere.

Chefchaouen is less about major monuments and more about visual beauty, color and a relaxed mountain lifestyle.
